Beacon Hill Farms & Pastured Meats
We ethically raise pastured meats to nourish Central New York families as stewards for the land.
Meet the Farmers
Why Choose Pastured Meats?
Our Roots:
We're Tess and Derek, high school sweethearts from Central New York who followed career paths to Boston, where we spent two decades building our lives and businesses in physical therapy and meditation.
But farming was always in Tess's blood - she comes from four generations of farmers, with her father and brother still Working the land just a mile down the road from where we are today.
Our journey into sustainable agriculture started small on our 1/2 acre plot in the Boston-Metrowest area. We raised organic fruits & vegetables, chickens, quail, rabbits and bees for honey. But we outgrew our plot of land and started looking for something bigger. Somewhere we could take our foundation and grow it within a new community.
Family Life on the Farm:
We're blessed to be raising our three wonderful children - Wyatt (10), Ceia (8), and Esme (1) - in the same rich farming tradition that shaped Tess's childhood. We've chosen a self-directed homeschooling approach, allowing our children to learn and grow naturally alongside the rhythms of farm life.
Our Farming Philosophy
At Beacon Hill Farm, we focus on pastured meats, but we're doing more than just raising animals - we're participating in a cycle of renewal. We believe that ethically-raised meat isn't just about what we put on our plates; it's about healing the soil, restoring natural balance, and living in closer harmony with the land.
Our approach to farming is guided by several core beliefs:
That meat, when raised right, plays an important role in human nutrition
That animals deserve to live with respect for their natural behaviors
That intensive pasture management can help restore Earth's natural equilibrium
That sustainable choices today create a better tomorrow
Community & Coming Home
Leaving Boston meant saying goodbye to an incredible community of friends who had become family. But returning to Central New York has been a homecoming in the truest sense, as we've been embraced by family and welcomed back to our roots. We're building something special here - not just a farm, but a place where community, family, and sustainable agriculture come together. We invite you to be part of our story. Whether you're seeking nutrient-dense, ethically-raised meats for your family, or simply want to learn more about sustainable farming practices, we're here to share our journey with you.

When it comes to nourishing your body, the quality of your meat matters just as much as the quantity. Pastured grass-fed meat isn't just a trend – it's a return to the way nature intended animals to grow and develop, resulting in meat that's significantly more nutritious than its grain-fed counterpart.
Superior Nutritional Profile
Grass-fed meat contains substantially higher levels of essential nutrients that your body needs to thrive. The natural diet of grass and forage allows these animals to produce meat that's:
Rich in heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, with up to five times more than grain-fed meat. These essential fats help reduce inflammation and support brain health.
Packed with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a powerful fatty acid that may help reduce body fat and support healthy muscle growth. Grass-fed beef contains up to three times more CLA than grain-fed beef.
Higher in antioxidant vitamins like vitamin E and A, which help protect your cells from damage and support immune function. Grass-fed beef provides up to four times more vitamin E than grain-fed beef.
An excellent source of minerals like zinc, iron, and selenium, delivered in forms that your body can easily absorb and utilize.
Free From Unwanted Additives
When you choose pastured grass-fed meat, you're avoiding:
Regular exposure to antibiotics commonly used in confined feeding operations Growth hormones often given to grain-fed cattle to speed up weight gain Residues from pesticides and herbicides used on grain feeds
The Natural Choice for Your Health
Choosing pastured grass-fed meat isn't just about what you're getting – it's about what you're avoiding. Animals raised on pasture, moving freely and eating their natural diet, produce meat that closely matches our evolutionary nutritional needs. This is the food that helped humans thrive for thousands of years before industrial farming.
From Pasture to Plate: The Quality Difference
The superior quality of grass-fed meat isn't just something you can read about in nutrition facts – it's something you can taste. The meat tends to have:
A richer, more complex flavor
A firmer, more natural texture
Better marbling with healthy fats
A deeper, more natural color
Make the switch to pastured grass-fed meat and experience the difference that nature-aligned nutrition can make in how you feel, function, and thrive.
